Grandpa’s Natural Tricks To Remove Rust Easily, Especially From Gardening Tools

Rust is one tough enemy when it comes to cleaning! Removing rust from any household item, such as gardening tools, cooking utensils, knives, pipes or any other object that rusts is a difficult task to do. Is very hard to get rid of it, that’s why many of us use special rust solution to combat this rusty enemy. But, did you know that you can call to certain natural tricks that are very effective, to get rid of rust? Well, my grandfather used to clean his gardening tools using the bellow recipes:


Baking soda 
Baking soda does real wonders when it comes to rust. All you have to do is to boil a cup of water. In a small bowl, add baking soda, and small drops of hot water, stirring well until you get a very thin paste. Apply the paste obtained in the rusted place. Let it work for 10-15 minutes, and then rub it well with an abrasive sponge or old toothbrush. At the end it rinse well with warm water.

Potatoes and dish detergent
A simple way to get rid of rust, and at anyone’s fingertips, is using potatoes. Cut half the potato and dip in dishwashing detergent the cut half. Then rub the rusty area with this potato. Repeat the procedure as often as needed, until you remove the rust. When the rust is gone, rinses well with warm water.

Salt and lemon
Another trick, very handy to anyone, and also very natural is cleaning the rust with salt and lemon. Apply a generous layer of salt on the affected area, and then add lemon juice over it. Let it soften and act on the rust for 2 hours, and then rub the place very well with the lemon peel. Rinse with plenty of water.
